Welcome to the December bulletin
Infonomics is now an approved partner of the recently established Institute of Place Management. I'm using this month's bulletin to encourage you all to make use of their introductory offer - free partnership - while it is still available.
I hope everyone appreciates the addition of pictures to the bulletin. Please let me know if you're having any difficulty with the images or if you'd prefer plain text.
Free partnership opportunity with the Institute of Place Management
The Institute of Place Management is a membership organisation dedicated to supporting professionals and organisations that are committed to managing, developing and making places better.
The IPM wants to build on existing industry support and recognises a clear international need from the outset. It will work with policy makers, practitioners and consultants to identify the core skills and competences involved in the effective management, development and marketing of places, as well as the distinct skills and competences required for different types of place. As well as becoming the recognised body for accrediting individuals working in the place management industry, the IPM are also looking to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with an array of place management associated organisations; education providers, consultancies, funding bodies and membership organisations.
Benefits to IPM Approved Partners are myriad; Approved Partner Status demonstrates recognised standards of competency, skill and understanding within the industry and a commitment to a corresponding set of professional values and behaviours. Becoming a partner of the IPM communicates your organisation's professional achievements and experience to a wide range of people; associated organisations, funders, professional colleagues and stakeholders, essentially giving you access to a global network of industry contacts, all sharing the same goal: To make places better.
In addition, only Approved Partners have the opportunity to apply for accreditation and endorsement of their products and services. Accreditation and endorsement by the IPM shows those within the industry that they are getting a quality product – something that will help them do their job better, whether that is training, qualifications, or continuing professional development.
As an added benefit, every organisation applying for Approved Partner Status must nominate a Centre Co-ordinator who will also an Associate member of the IPM, affording them all the benefits this involves. The IPM Centre-Co-ordinator will be the primary contact when dealing with Institute activity and will engage in two-way communication as to how the IPM can work together with the Approved Partner to ensure that the potential and success of our formal partnership is maximised.
Currently IPM Approved Partner Status is free until 31st March 2008 to any organisation that helps 'makes places better'. As of 1st April 2008 the annual fee for renewing IPM Approved Partner Status, including application assessment, will be £250 + VAT.
For a more detailed account of the benefits of becoming an Approved Partner of the IPM and becoming the IPM Centre Co-ordinator for your organisation, including a breakdown of benefits and cost implications, please contact Professor Cathy Parker (cathy@placemanagement.org) or Daniel McGrath (dan@placemanagement.org) on +44 (0) 161 247 6041 or visit the IPM website at www.placemanagement.org
