New University Challenge - the next LEGI?
The government has opened-up a consultation on a new fund (a £150m addition to HEFCE's strategic development budget) that will invite towns and cities to bid for new university campuses and centres of higher education. As with the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative, public agents looking to respond to the competitive bidding process may benefit from the additional resources and specialist skills available from private consultancies. As such this fund offers a range of business opportunities.
This bulletin describes the tools Infonomics offers to:
Get a head start on the background research
We've summarised the issues and gathered links to online resources into a mindmap. The mindmap provides a useful introduction to the agenda and gives our associates a head start allowing you to quickly cover the salient points with references to the in-depth coverage.
Market segmentation: identify the most eligible candidates
In homage to the famous composite regeneration indicator we have created an Index of University Deprivation. The measure combines statistics for a range of criteria describing how much towns and cities need a university. We've already developed a database which ranks each English area according to how much it needs a university. This index can help you to identify potential clients and help your clients to make their case.
Stay up to date
We're gathering a news feed of the latest stories on the New University Challenge.
Leverage these resources in your own business development
These research and analytical tools are only part of the package that we want to take to market. We're looking for other partners to provide, for example, diagnostics, partnership development, strategy development, bid writing support etc.
What's next?
At this stage I'm looking to understand how various associate's offers will fit together. If you would like to get involved the please get in touch. Once the HEFCE consultation is complete we can begin marketing a joint offer to clients.
